Dear China/Tibet Participants:
I need to call the travel agent and tell her your preference after you read the information given below. I will be out of town Feb 8-10 and therefore, I am asking you to e-mail Lenzy in the next day or so and let her know about your preference to depart from OKC or from Tulsa.
I have made reservations for each one of you, departing from Oklahoma City to Beijing on Monday, May 7, 2007 and returning from Shanghai to Tulsa on Thursday, May 24, 2007. The Oklahoma City flight leaves OKC at 7:30 am, while the Tulsa Flight Leaves at 6:00 am. They both connect in Chicago O’Hare Int’l airport for a direct flight to Beijing and they both return on the same direct flight from Shanghai to Chicago. Therefore, the Tulsa flight will have a longer wait in the Chicago airport.
On the return flight, seats from Chicago to OKC were not available for all of us and therefore the reservations are into Tulsa (from Chicago).
I also made reservations for everyone from Tulsa to Chicago and to Beijing. Therefore on the departing flight on May 7, as of now you all have an option of OKC or Tulsa. Please have in mind that we will all meet in Chicago and we all will be on the same flight to China, regardless of whether we have originated in OKC or in Tulsa. I just wanted everyone to have a choice. My personal preference is to depart from OKC as it departs at a later time than the Tulsa flight. We have to be at the airport two hours before the flight for international flights. I do not know about your preferences.
Dr. Ed Miller, the Associate Dean of Instruction, in the College of AG will be one of the instructors on the trip. One of us (Dr. Miller or I) will be departing from Tulsa, and the other will depart from OKC, if there are students with strong preferences to go from Tulsa or OKC.
A couple of you have contacted me, wanting to stay longer or to go back to another state on the return flight. The course ends on May 24 in Shanghai. So, if you want to travel after that, you will be on your own. On going to another state on your return flight, again, that would be your choice and you have to explore the fares with the travel agent.
For ticket payments, Gateway Travel prefers a check as I can put them together and Fed Ex it to them. Please write your checks for the amount of $879.00 (eight hundred seventy nine dollars) and to Gateway Travel. I will collect the checks next week during class.
Make sure and bring a copy of your passport to the meeting next week.
