The prices below were for our trip in 2007. Obviously, the price when you leave can be more or less. This is to give you an idea of how Dr. Henneberry really works for her students. We got an incredible deal on our air travel. Thanks Dr. Henneberry!
Dear Participants:
I just called the travel agency that I have been working with and they have a special fare to offer us for the international flight part of our trip. More details are given below:
1. One great advantage of this airfare is that it applies to direct flights from Chicago to Beijing and return from Shanghai to Chicago. So we leave from Oklahoma City to Chicago and then directly to Beijing. On the return segment we depart from Shanghai and fly directly to Chicago and then change planes in Chicago flying to OKC.
2. Another great advantage is the fare. The round trip ticket cost, including all taxes and fees are around $880. I have not seen this price for a long time. I just checked Travelocity, and the lowest cost tickets were $1,500. However, please know that the ticket purchase is your responsibility and choice and the study abroad trip starts in Beijing on May 8 (if we leave on May 7, we will arrive on May 8 because of the time change) and ends in Shanghai on May 24. You may search the web and see what other airfares you can find.
3. This to me seemed to be such an excellent deal, that I called the travel agency and gave all of your names and made a reservation for our group. The reservations will expire in one week. You are not committed to buy these tickets. But, once you pay for them, they are non-refundable. If you wish, you may purchase your ticket on your own.
4. It is crucial that you apply for a passport, if you haven’t done so by now. We need to get permission to enter Tibet. We also need to get our visa for China. The Tibetan permission to be processed as a group. You will be holding up the rest of the group if you delay on applying.
