Dear China Study Abroad Students:
- If you have not applied for the Study Abroad Office Scholarships, please do so, as soon as possible. They are given out on a first come/first serve basis.
- We need to schedule a meeting during starting the week of February 5. Last year we met on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:00. Let me know which days during the week you can meet, starting from 3:30 pm until 7:00, in one and a half hour increments. State your availability:
- Mondays: 3:30-5:00 or 5:00- 7:30
- Tuesdays: 3:30-5:00 or 5:00- 7:30
- Wednesdays: 3:30-5:00 or 5:00- 7:30
- Thursdays: 3:30-5:00 or 5:00- 7:30
- Fridays: 3:30-5:00 or 5:00- 7:30
- Bring a copy of your passport to me during our first meeting. If you can not attend, put it in a sealed envelope and leave in my mailbox in room 417 AG Hall (secretary’s room) or slide it under my door. We need your passport copy for Permission to enter Tibet.
- If you do not have a current passport, apply for one as soon as possible: All of the information for U.S. Citizens to obtain or renew a passport may be found at:
- http://travel.state.gov/ – That is the easiest place to start. First time applicants need to apply in person at the courthouse, but they can prepare all of the forms etc by logging on to that web site.
- The study abroad office in the basement of the student union also takes passport photos. Last year they were one of the lowest cost providers. You would need two extra photos for the Chinese visa.
- Enrollment for the three hour credit will be conducted during one of our meetings, by me.
- Your second deposit, $1,000 is due in February.
- We will talk about ticket purchases, during our first meeting.
- I am trying to work out with our host agency so that we can stay longer at the same cost. (tentatively, May 7-23).
Please let me know if you have any questions that need an answer before our first meeting.
